Drunk Driver Crashes Not Once But TWICE – Causing Multiple Injuries

The silver lining of a drunk driver crashing is that they can no longer operate their vehicle. But in some cases, drunk drivers are able to continue driving even after the first crash, putting even more people in harm’s way. Such was the case on July 27th of 2022, when it was reported that a drunk driver from Westfield had crashed his car twice in the span of about two minutes.

The first crash occurred in Westfield at about 9:42 PM. Multiple vehicles were involved, and the intoxicated individual fled the scene. About two minutes later, the same individual crashed his car again, causing a second multi-vehicle accident. This second crash seemed to be much worse than the first, as one car crashed into a house before rolling over. The suspect was outside the vehicle when police arrived, and many suspected that he had fallen out of the car at some point during the roll. However, it was revealed that he had dragged himself out of the car. He suffered a non-life-threatening injury, while three others in separate vehicles were also injured with non-life-threatening issues. The suspect was eventually released from custody with a pending court date.

House in Jackson Severely Damaged by Drunk Driver

On June 13th, it was reported that a home in Jackson had been severely damaged after a drunk driver had driven straight through it. Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the accident. However, the driver and the passenger were both taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. While being processed, the driver had their blood drawn, and the results showed that the driver may have been impaired at the time of the crash. An investigation is ongoing. It is worth pointing out that the car went straight through a room that was being used as an office. If the owner had been sitting in the room at the time of the crash, he would have probably lost his life.

Drunk Driver Hits a Tree and Flees the Scene

On June 9th, it was reported that a drunk driver in Lacey had crashed into a tree before attempting to flee. Even though no one was actually hurt in this crash (except the tree), it is worth pointing out that this still constitutes a hit-and-run. Fleeing from the scene of any crash is a crime – even if you were the only one involved. This is especially true if you were intoxicated at the time. Thankfully, the drunk driver did not get very far, and police reported that he was located a “short distance” away from the tree. The 25-year-old was quickly determined to be intoxicated, and he was later charged with a slew of offenses, including leaving the scene of an accident, an open container violation, and driving without insurance.
