Being assaulted is one of the most traumatic and dangerous experiences a person can experience. A human being is capable of causing tremendous harm to an innocent victim – especially if they are larger and stronger. Unfortunately, assaults are all too common in the Garden State, and these crimes occur on a daily basis. Victims may take solace in the fact that their attackers are often imprisoned for their crimes, but is this really justice? Consider the fact that victims are often tasked with paying considerable medical bills after the attack. They may also be forced to miss weeks, months, or even years of work – resulting in considerable losses in the form of missed wages. Finally, victims can suffer tremendous psychological trauma after these incidents, requiring expensive appointments with mental health professionals. Who pays for all of these damages?

You can receive compensation for your damages by filing a personal injury lawsuit against those who are responsible. In order to approach this legal process in the most confident, efficient manner, you will need to get in touch with a personal injury attorney. Your lawyer can assess your unique situation during a consultation before offering targeted, personalized advice. Based on our recommendations, you can move forward with your lawsuit by gathering evidence, speaking with witnesses, and negotiating for a fair settlement. It may be easier to sue than you think – but not if you delay too long. This is why getting in touch with an attorney as early as possible is crucial.

New Jersey Umpire Sues Attacker After Being Assaulted at Baseball Game

Even a friendly children’s baseball game can turn sour. As many parents can attest, tensions are often extremely high during these baseball games, and one elderly umpire found out that these tensions can sometimes become violent. In June of 2022, the 72-year-old victim was assaulted by a baseball coach in Branchburg. The attack left him with a broken jaw, and the coach turned and fled after realizing what he had done. He was later charged with third-degree aggravated assault and fourth-degree assault at a youth sporting event.

But the victim was not satisfied, and he is now suing the baseball team, the team president, the entire league, and various parents who allegedly “verbally encouraged the assault.” The victim’s attorney stresses that this lawsuit will ensure that similar incidents never again occur in New Jersey. The victim had his jaw wired shut for six weeks, forcing him to eat only protein shakes, soup, and mashed potato even after the wiring was removed. He also suffered a concussion that has left him with recurring headaches.

High School Students Sue Teacher After Assault

In July of 2012, it was reported that two former high school students were suing a teacher for physical assault and public humiliation during their time at Ferris High School. The incident allegedly occurred back in 2019, and it involved a teacher grabbing one of the student’s purses, dumping out its contents, and then punching her in the head and neck. The other plaintiff claims that on the exact same day, the teacher grabbed her hair and face, squeezed her cheeks together, and attempted to forcibly put lipstick on her.

Both plaintiffs claim that they suffered personal injuries, psychological trauma, and emotional distress as a result of these incidents. They also claim that they incurred medical expenses due to their injuries. They are not seeking a specific amount of money, but the settlement could be considerable if their allegations can be proven in court.

NJ Transit Workers Sue After Being Subjected to Constant Assaults

Also in July of 2022, it was reported that New Jersey transit workers were suing their employer after years of constant abuse and assaults. Among other things, the workers claim that they have been beaten, heckled, spit on, and intimidated. Some even claim that they had hot coffee thrown in their faces. Some of these unruly passengers were carrying weapons. Each worker is apparently seeking compensation in the amount of $150,000.
